First up, Aoife Rohan set the bar very high, winning gold with a brilliant effort of 1.38m in the Under-13 high jump, while in the Under-15 shot putt Amy Callaghan claimed the bronze medal with a fantastic throw of 11.05m.

Lee Callaghan and James Bellew both did well in the Under-13 Boys high jump but unfortunately were not able to match Aoife’s success.

In the Under-16 shot putt Aine O’Sullivan threw a personal best of 9.58m with the 3kg shot to finish in eighth position, while Amy Callaghan also did very well in the Under-15 high jump, finishing in the top eight.

In the 60m sprint Isabella Gogan (Under-13) ran very well and was unlucky not to get through to the final, while in the very competitive Under-17 long jump competition Orlaith Quinn performed brilliantly, jumping 4.44m. race in her heat of the Under-12 600m, finishing third, but a tough final saw her outside the medals in ninth place. In the Under-13 Boys race Paddy Price qualified for the final, running 1:49.48 to finish fourth in his heat, but despite running 1:49.09 in the final missed out on a medal, while clubmate Caelan Quinn also ran well in his heat.

The Under-14 Girls had 800m to contend with, a hard task on this 200m indoor track, but some great running from Eabha Cosgrove saw her qualify for her final, where she finished eighth, while Saran Meite, although winning her heat and running a faster time in the final, was seventh. Teammate Maedbh Nolan was unlucky to just miss out on qualification for the final, finishing fourth in her heat.

Danny Nugent and Neil Culhane both ran well to qualify for the final of their 800m, and despite knocking almost five seconds off his heat time Danny was unlucky to place just outside the medals in fourth place, with Neil ninth.

The Under-15 Girls were next to the track, where both Anna Faulkner and Lily Cummins ran well, but tired legs from the previous day’s National Schools
