RATHKENNY REVELS

Rathkenny Revels are set to stage their annual variety show in Rathkenny Hall on two weekends - 6th 7th 8th April at 8pm with a matinee at 3pm on Sunday8th April and 13th 14th and 15th April with 8pm shows on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th with the show finishing at 3pm on Sunday 15th April. This year this long standing variety show promises to have comedy song and dance of the usual high standard with a few twists. There is simply something for everyone. PARISH NEWS

On Holy Thursday night at the Mass of the Lord’s Supper we will have the Washing of the Feet during the Gospel. Mellifont Parish Liturgy group are seeking volunteers for this. If you wish to volunteer please leave your name and contact number in the sacristy.

Gifts for the poor are traditiona­lly presented on Holy Thursday night so from Holy Thursday Trocaire boxes can be left in baskets in the sanctuary area. Baskets will be left for the remainder of the Easter celebratio­ns. Your support and generosity is gratefully appreciate­d.

Ministers of the Word for Holy Week rota and booklets for Palm Passion Sunday & Easter Triduum are now in sacristy. The Good Friday collection will aid Christians in the Middle East. Cardinal Sandri invites us to show solidarity to our brothers and sisters who are in difficulty. Christian charity is a sure source of hope. Many thanks for your support.

The Pastoral Area Reconcilia­tion Service: Monday 26th of March at 7.30pm in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Drogheda. One to One Confession­s will take place before & after the 7.30 pm Masses on Tuesday 27th & Wednesday 28th of March

Mass of Healing with Fr. Tom Hogan, Wednesday 28th of March at 7.30pm.

Holy Thursday (29th of March) - The Chrism Mass: St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Armagh: 11am. Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper: 7.30 pm followed by Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament with meditation­s, prayer and music concluding with night prayer ending at 9.30 pm.

Good Friday (30th of March) The Celebratio­n of the Passion of the Lord: 3.00 pm. Stations of the Cross – A Journey of Healing & of Mercy: 7.00 pm

Holy Saturday (31st of March) The Easter Vigil in the Holy Night: 9.00 pm.

MEN’S SHED

The Tullyallen Men’s Shed meet on Tuesday & Friday mornings at 10am in the Glen Emmets Clubhouse. The Men’s Shed is a dedicated, friendly and welcoming meeting place where men come together and undertake a variety of mutually agreed activities. All new members are more than welcome to come along for a chat and cup of tea. So why not go along and see what it’s all about.

FÉILE PEILE NA NÓG DOWN, LOUTH & MEATH (29TH JUNE – 1ST JULY 2018)

The Glen Emmets will have their fabulous U14s team flying the flag for the parish in this All Ireland competitio­n. This is HUGE for Glen Emmets. The festival is about our young people celebratin­g their love of Gaelic games and involves the whole club, the whole community, our school and host families. Féile will provide the Club with an opportunit­y to foster long lasting relationsh­ips and will have positive impact on the Club. Glen Emmets will host a club from outside the county, so they are seeking host families for the visiting teams. They will also be looking for additional volunteers to help with preparatio­ns. So if you think you can help, hosting players, fund raising, making sandwiches, helping set up pitches please contact a member of the Glen Emmets, they will set you up with the relevant contacts.

LOTTO RESULTS

Results for the Glen Emmets Lotto held Tuesday 13th March 2018. The Grand Prize Draw was for €4,200 and there was no winner. The numbers drawn were: 3, 17, 26 & 32. The 4 Lucky Dip winners who receive €25 each are Tom Field, Fr. Dooley, Ann Carolan & Bob Daly. Next week’s draw is €4,300. BRICKX CLUB

The Brixks club is back in Teach Raithneach, Stairnagh, Collon on Thursdays from 5pm. This is aimed at Boys and girls aged 4-12. Contact Theresa Dillon on 086 3212986 for further details.

5K FUN RUN

Save Sunday, 8th April in your calendar as this is the day of the Glen Emmets 5K Fun run & walk. This promises to be a great day if last year is anything to go by. Events kick off at 2pm in the Glen Emmets and the whole community will no doubt be out in full support.

CÚL CAMP ONLINE BOOKING

The Glen Emmets Kellogs Cúl Camp will take place this year from 16th to 20th July and online booking commenced 1st March. Get in early and make your booking to avoid disappoint­ment as this camp always proves to be a great one.

CARDIAC SCREENING

Glen Emmets have linked up with AMS to offer cardiac screening sessions for players, members and all in the wider community. They would encourage as many as possible to attend. The cost of this screening is €65 per person, which is fully or partially redeemable, depending on your health insurance provider. The unit will be in the Glen Emmets on Saturday, 14th April 9.30am to 5pm. You can go online to www.ameds. ie and click online booking and enter the Clinic Code GEGFC or Lo-call 1890 300 333. Places are limited so book early to avoid disappoint­ment. There is no financial benefit to the club, they are just facilitati­ng the venue for the screening.
