Samaritans say thanks for great Market Bar fundraiser

-

Drogheda & North East Branch of Samaritans were delighted to receive a cheque for €800 recently courtesy of a fundraiser held in a local public house.

The branch, which serves counties Louth, Meath, Monaghan and Cavan, placed a large empty coke bottle in The Market Bar on Magdalene Street, Drogheda.

The pub’s patrons were encouraged to fill the bottle and when it was full they were given the opportunity to guess the amount of money inside.

Collette Nugent, her family and staff at The Market Bar, did a great job of selling competition entries among their customers for the ‘Guess The Amount Collection’.

There were three main prizes on offer, which were sponsored by The Market Bar, and also Valerie Sherlock, General Manager of the Westcourt Hotel in Drogheda. The prize winners were:

•1st - Rose Reynolds, who received a €100 voucher for the Westcourt Hotel,

•2nd - Henry Gallagher, who received a €50 voucher for the Westcourt Hotel, and

•3rd - Benny Mohan, who won a €25 voucher for the Westcourt Hotel.

There were also spot prizes on offer for the ‘Lowest’ and ‘Most Outrageous’ amount entered into the competition.

Drogheda & North East Branch of Samaritans would sincerely like to thank all those who took part in the fun event, and The Market Bar for hosting it.
