All County Hurling League at 12.30: Div 4: Killyon v St Patrick’s. RATHKENNY maintained their push for a quick return to the top tier when they had plenty to spare in a feisty encounter at home to their close neighbours.

The home side were poor throughout the opening half and all three of their points came from Keith Curtis frees as they trailed 0-3 to 0-6 at the break.

Rathkenny played most of the second half with 14 following the dismissal of Brian Lenehan but they improved considerab­ly in the half, outscoring their opponents 10 points to one.

Curtis finished top scorer with six points, all from frees, while Meath senior selector Donal Curtis was introduced as

a first-half sub and also got on the scoring.

The hosts could have been ahead by more at the finish, but Jack Gore had a penalty saved at the three quarter way stage by Jonathan Ginnity.

Castletown’s only point of the second half came from Declan Cribbin with five minutes remaining.
