Glens edge battle of Emmets

-

GLEN EMMETS ROCHE EMMETS 2-13 0-11

SECOND half goals from Conor Grimes and Kealan O’Neill helped Glen Emmets record what could prove to be a very important victory over Roche Emmets in Division 2.

Both teams went into this clash in Cusack Park looking to bounce back from losing their opening two games of the campaign and in the end it was the Tullyallen side who came out on top thanks to a strong second half showing.

As has been the case over the last number of seasons, there was very little to choose between the teams in the first half. However, it was the home side who had the slight advantage with points from James Butler, Conor Grimes and Keith Lynch helping the to lead by 0-9 to 0-6 at the break. Evin Quigley, Dan O’Connell and Kevin Callaghan were among the scorers for Roche.

The second period was relatively close in terms of chances created but it was Glen Emmets who got the all-important goals from Grimes and O’Neill to see them get off the mark in this year’s league campaign.
