DREADNOTS SEAN O’MAHONYS 2-9 0-7

DREADNOTS picked up their second victory of the league campaign when they defeated a wasteful Sean O’Mahonys in Clogherhead.

Goals from Peter Kirwan and Carl Monaghan either side of the break proved crucial as O’Mahony’s registered 15 wides.

The result puts the Clogherhead men on five points and in third place in the table at the head of a group of seven teams separated by just two points.

The pattern of the game was established early on as the home side made the better use of their chances in the first half and Kirwan’s goal sent them in leading by 1-5 to 0-3.

O’Mahonys continued to create chances but their confidence in front of the posts evaporated, while at the other end the Dreadnots added scores through Paraic Smith and James Califf.

Any lingering doubts about the result were ended when Monaghan scored his side’s second goal to help secure an eight point win.
