Julianstown group and Meath CC discuss issues in village
JULIANSTOWN and District Community Association are continuing to work with Meath CC to improve vital aspects of the village.
They recently held a group walkabout organised by JDCA with MCC officials to establish which matters need the Council’s attention.
Niamh Bn.Ui Loinsigh, Chair of the Association and Mary Logue, Committee member.discussed a series of issues with Christy Clarke, area engineer and Mick Gallagher, area overseer.
‘We intend to request MCC reps to carry out a monthly inspection of the village to check on the progress of the improvements needed,’ the chairperson added. Among the issues raised were: Broken down walls north of the village on the Drogheda side. Smiths wall and gate pillars .
Missing 50k speed limit sign at traffic calming.
Missing sign to Laytown and Sonairte Getting landowners to cut back all hedges when nesting is over.
Clean up the Gormanston Interchange Clean all gullies going up hill and on Laytown Road
Peel back all sods protruding over kerbs Cut all grass.
Spelling of signs in Irish – some of them are incorrect. One on Laytown Rd and Approach road to Julianstown from Drogheda
Hedge outside School needs to be cut back as briars growing out onto path
Cycle lane road markings have been obliterated and covered with grass. Grass needs to be removed and lines re-painted. All road signs need to be cleaned. The deep ditches especially on the Ballygarth road and elsewhere need to be cleaned out.
The group are hoping that all of the issues raised can be sorted out in the coming weeks and months.
