Anna marks her 105th birthday
ANNA Maguire entered a unique club last week - celebrating her 105th birthday - and so becoming one of the oldest people in Louth and Meath.
Anna was born in Mornington on May 24, 1913 - a year after the Titanic sank, three years before the 1916 Rising and prior to two world wars!

There are presently two people in both counties who have reached the milestone, but Anna has a bit to go yet to match the oldest living person in the Royal County. They are 107.

Family and friends gathered at her home in the Boyne Valley Nursing Home in Dowth on Saturday to mark the occasion.
Anna’s parents were Bernard and Margaret Lynch and she met her husband Joe when he was a bus driver on the Enniskillen to Drogheda route.
When they married, Joe worked as a mechanic in the Irish Oilcake factory.
Anna settled in happily to life in Laytown with Joe where she ran the local shop, Swan Stores and it was here that her three sons Frank, Brian and Seamus were born.
Anna moved from Laytown to Trinity Street and her neighbours at McCloskey’s bakery always send her a delicious birthday cake each year.
And they didn’t disappoint this year either with a stunning threepiece 105 cake.
She lived on her own until she was 98 and rarely drank and never smoked.
‘I loved to walk a lot and I have a saying, ‘ laugh and everyone laughs with you and cry and you cry alone’, Anna told the Drogheda Independent.
She received a special medal and a certificate from the President to mark her latest milestone occasion.
‘I’ve had a great life from when I was small and I hope to enjoy a few more parties,’ she added.
