Join 5k fun run in the sun in aid of SOSAD

-

AN hour of your time, could save a life.

That’s the message from SOSAD to anyone who would like to walk, jog or run their annual 5K event in July, to help raise awareness and vital funds to support their ongoing work within the community of Drogheda.

The event will take place on Friday July 6th at 7pm, and as Carmel Hancock from SOSAD explains, it’s more about having fun than anything else!

“Hopefully we’ll have a dry, bright evening, and everyone is welcome to come along and get a bit of fresh air and exercise,” she explains.

“Of course, serious runners can come along, but we also hope families will bring along their children or even dogs to join in the fun!”

The run is one of the main annual fundraisers for the organisation, which helps those dealing with suicide, however, the choice of event is no accident.

“Exercise is extremely important to people’s mental health, and we encourage people to get out in the community and just get out and about,” she adds.

“It starts and finishes at the Aura Leisure Centre, so it is a very flat course, so you could even bring a buggy and enjoy the craic.”

Registration is online at eventbtire.ie and costs €12 for adults, with children under 12 free. Participants can register on the evening, and that will cost €15, with all proceeds going to the charity.

“The office has never been busier, so whatever the need, we want to be there for people, and supporting events like this can really make a change.”
