FLEADH FLASH MOB HIT STREETS

- BY HUBERT MURPHY

Drogheda is going Fleadh crazy already! Dancers and musicians descended on West Street for a ‘flash mob’ show on Saturday, much to the amazement and delight of passing shoppers.

A Nós Nua Flash Mob took to the streets outside St. Peter’s Church on Saturday.

The event was to promote the upcoming Fleadh Cheoil and was filmed by Fleadh TV.

40 dancers from around the region gathered with the Louth Youth Orchestra to put on a wonderful show in the sunshine and give passersby a real taste of what the Fleadh will be all about - fun.

The event was to promote a special youth concert taking place in the Dominican Church during the August Fleadh.

Kay Walker from the organising group - along with Gemma Murray from Music Generation - said she was delighted with the performance and thanked everyone for playing their part.

The piece of music was specially commissioned by Louth CC as part of a Public Art project in Dundalk and they decided to use it for the day.

Paddy Donnelly from Louth CC was also on hand to support the event.
