Hunterstown Rovers v St Fechin’s FRIDAY 8.30 GAELIC GROUNDS

With an in-form St Mochta’s waiting in the wings, both sides will be keen to get off to a winning start in Drogheda.

Sometimes it’s hard to know which St Fechin’s will turn up, but on their day their capable of mising with the best.

However, Hunterstown have been the more consistent side so far this year and they have a little bit more quality in attack.

Verdict: Hunterstown

Clan Na Gael v St Bride’s SATURDAY 7.30 ARDEE

THE first clash of the heavyweights in Group B sees last year’s runners up take on their fellow Division 1 outfit St Bride’s.

The Knockbridge outfit will be buoyed by retaining their top tier status last Tuesday, but the Clans have been pushing for a top-4 spot and have racked up a few impressive results in recent weeks. The pain of 2017 should also spur on the Castletown men. Verdict: Clan Na Gael

St Kevin’s v Naomh Fionnbarra SATURDAY 6.00 ARDEE

On paper the Division 2 outfit, Naomh Fionnbarra should have too much for their third tier opponents, but St Kevin’s have the quality in attack to trouble any defence at this level and that has possibly been the Barrs major weakness this term.

However, they’re a powerful attacking force in their own right and if it come down to a shoot-out you’d fancy the Togher men.

Verdict: Naomh Fionnbarra

Cooley Kickhams v Glen Emmets SUNDAY 2.30 DOWDALLSHILL

COOLEY’S first assignment in the Intermediate grade is a straightforward one on paper, but championship football isn’t played on paper and if they’re below par Glen Emmets are capable of putting it up to the former senior giants.

That said, the Tullyallen men have been struggling in Division 2 this term and have a bit to find to spring what would be a majorupset. Verdict: Cooley Kickhams
