DUNDALK GAELS

LAST week’s death of Laura Coleman was the cause of much sorrow in the club. Laura was wife of Seanie, a senior championship medal-winner with us 1952, and together this wonderful duo entertained us over a long number of years with their beautiful singing.

Whenever there was a gathering, Seanie and Laura would be ones to get the sing-song going, and if there was always a request for ‘Whispering Hope’ it was because it was one of their best. We were proud of them when they appeared on an afternoon RTE television show a number of years back.

Though now well into his ninth decade, Seanis continues to play golf on a regular basis, and rarely misses a club match. Along with other surviving members of our 1952 team, Bertie Dullaghan and Niall O’Neill, he was a guest at the dinner which followed last year’s senior final.

Club members were in attendance at the removal of remains to the Church of the Redeemer on Friday last and at the burial afterwards in St Patrick’s Cemetery.

Sympathy is extended to Seanie, his son, Gerard and other family members.

The jackpot in tonight’s lotto draw stands at €13,200. Tickets can be purchased in Grant’s Newsagents, Dublin Street, or from any committee member. The numbers drawn last week were, 2, 23, 28, 30. Consolation prizewinners, Marie McCrea, Niamh Walsh, Briege Duffy, Ursula Lynch, Jimmy Mahon.

The club appreciates the inclusion of the late Conor Morgan in the minute’s silence and round of applause which took place prior to Dundalk’s League of Ireland match at Oriel Park last Friday night.

Teenage Kicks Summer Camp

KNOCKBRIDGE

UNDERAGE training continues this Friday from 5.30 p.m. in the Brides field.

Our senior hurlers kept their100% record in the Louth league with a norrow victory over rivals St.Fechins. A tight first half finished 1-6 a piece and an early second half goal seemed to set St.Fechins up for the win. However, not for the first time this year our lads dug deep to win by 1-15 to 2-11. A clear man of the match was Conor Deane who shot 5 points from his midfield position.

Elsewhere our U.10 hurlers won all three matches in the all county blitz held in Darver while also winning all their games in a blitz hosted by Inniskeen. Well done to all the young lads who played their hearts out in the hot conditions.

This Tuesday our U.8’s play in a blitz while our hurling/camoige CulCamp takes place from July 23rd-27th.
