34 theft and forgery charges

A 38-year- old woman accused of 34 theft and forgery charges allegedly involving a total sum of € 48,566.81, has been sent for trial in the circuit criminal court.

Gillian Curran, Marian Park, Drogheda, is charged with 21 counts of theft at Yellowbatt­er Post Office, four counts of theft at Pearse Park, Drogheda, three counts of theft at Marian Park, and a further two theft charges at Ulster Bank, Drogheda.

She is also accused of three counts of forgery at a location unknown, and another forgery at the Department of Social Protection, Drogheda. All of the offences are alleged to have occurred on 16 August, 2011. A book of evidence was served on the defendant last Friday and she was sent forward for trial, on her own bail of € 100, to Dundalk circuit criminal court on 2 October Curran was granted legal aid for two counsel.
