Lourdes Youth Choir stars twinkle at awards

THE Lourdes youth Choir shone as always at the annual end of year awards night on Tuesday June 26th.

The choir performed “How long will I love you”, exposing the simple elegance and beauty of the choirs’ voices, and were accompanie­d by Maria Durnin on piano.

Aishling King sang “Battles” accompanyi­ng herself on guitar and Orla McDermott performed an Irish dance allowing her fellow members have a vocal rest!

Fr. Maciej presented the attendance awards and this year’s winners were: Senior Best Mass Attendance winners Josephine Ogbanga and Ava Hoey; Junior Best Mass Attendance winner – Sharon Ogbanga; Senior Best Practice Attendance - Ava Hoey; Junior Best Practice Attendance winners were Mai Byrne, Emily Duggan and Sophie Everitt. The junior section of the choir sang “Something just like this” followed by the senior members singing – “Be thou my vision”. The service awards were than presented by Fr Maciej and they were: 5 year service award Ava Hoey; 15 Year service award Aine Rock; 25 year service award Liz Cunningham. The winner of this years’ Fr. Martin award was Aishling King

The choir finished off the night with “Stand by me” and Impervious” with soloist Serena Matthews.
