Fire fears
The Railway Preservation Society of Ireland have just confirmed that the Boyne Steam Train Runs planned for Sunday July 22nd will not now go ahead, due to the possibility of the emissions from the steam engines starting fires along the route with the tinder dry grass and hedges. It is hoped to run the train later this year.
This will be a big disappointment to the many who were looking forward to the trips from Drogheda to Dundalk and Skerries with the trips attracting sell out numbers. but because of fears that the Steam Run would not go ahead no tickets were issued from Drogheda Tourist Office.
