Rogers trio perform well

-

THE Rogers family from Togher had three athletes on the Louth team who competed in the National League in Santry over the weekend - and they all performed with distinction.

All three compete for the St Peter’s club in Dromiskin and Emily won the Women’s high jump with a best of 1.72m and was fifth in the hammer with 19.02m.

Catherine was third in the Women’s 1500m walk and Brendan was second in the weight for distance with a best of 4.03m but was disqualified from the Men’s 3,000m walk after finishing second.

Conor Durnin was first in the Men’s triple jump with 12.44m and Tom McGrane - who also doubles up as team manager - was third in the Men’s shot putt with 8.94m.

Niamh Fussey also made her welcome return to athletics when she took her place in the Women’s 4 X100 team, running the third leg as the team finished fourth.

After the two rounds it looks like both of the Louth teams will make the final, with St Peter’s club members certainly playing their part.
