Drogheda Town could be a club worth watching!

-

THE provision of a television in the dressing-room is just one of the changes happening at Marian Park as Drogheda Town FC take a more professional approach ahead of the upcoming Leinster Senior League season.

The club have also announced a plethora of signings, including Ian Devine and the Reid brothers Cormac and Ross - all from Newfoundwell - and manager Robbie Horgan will be assisted by Barry Kelly for the 2018/19 campaign.

Darren Kavanagh also returns to the club, having left League of Ireland outfit Athlone Town, while the bulk of last season’s squad have rejoined, including Ciaran Cluskey Kelly, Dean Haggins, Roy Kierans, Marty Walsh, Dale Harding, David McTeggart, Andy Hickey and Sam Reilly.

Speaking about the developments, Horgan said: ‘We’ll have cameras up for home games and recording training sessions, and a TV in the dressing-room so we can show analysis at halftime in games.

‘We’ve signed a lot of players as well and there’s very positive vibes around the club at the moment.’

Pre-season training started last week with some 34 players in attendance and a comprehensive list of pre-season friendlies have been arranged.

The first of those was at home to Tolka Rovers last night (Monday), and next up is a game away to Muirhevnamor tomorrow (7.45pm). Town host Newry City on Thursday 26th (8pm) and travel to Bluebell United on Sunday 29th (noon).

Two games are so far confirmed for August, both at home, against Trim Celtic on Wednesday 1st and Swords Celtic on Friday 10th (both 7.45pm), with their campaign in the LSL Major Division due to begin on August 27th.

Drogheda Town are also staging their first Golf Classic in the coming weeks. It takes place on Friday August 31st at County Louth Golf Club and entry costs €300 for a team of four, including a steak/fish dinner with tea/coffee and dessert.
