Duleek’s Doyle delivers goods

-

DAVID Doyle’s spikes are worn after another cracking month on the track in the colours of Duleek & District AC.

Lining up for the 1500m at Drogheda and District’s Graded event on Thursday last, David was game ready and he duly added to his silverware collection, winning gold and bagging a new PB in 4:30 also.

Elsewhere, it was all systems go for the Athletics Ireland race committee as they welcomed 1,500 athletes to the Phoenix Park on Saturday last.

A popular distance for the long-distance runners at this time of year saw a competitive turnout for the Irish Runner 10-Mile Road Race and Gerry Murphy was first home for Duleek in 1hr 24min, followed by Anne Hamilton and Sandra Cassin.

Jackie Murphy ran a steady race with the help of the cooler weather and a lack of wind and the marathon training is clearly paying off for the four club members who are dutifully clocking up the miles on the watch.

From America to Dublin to Dunleer, Anne Hamilton’s trainers are well travelled in recent months and despite the break in the weather the rain didn’t put Hamilton off as she travelled to Dunleer to compete in their four-mile road race on Sunday.

The Indaver 10k Road Race will take place on Sunday August 5th at 11.30am and you can register online at www.myrunresults.com.
