MACBRIDE P&P
THE final week of the Summer League took place on Monday and Tuesday last and was an 18 gross competition.
Grade 1 was won by Pádraic Sarsfield with a nine-under par score of 45 gross and Grade 2 went to Tom Devin with a score of 54 gross.
The overall league title chase was a very close contest right to the end, but Barry Thornton emerged victorious with an overall total of 37-under par, just one shot clear of last year’s winner Pádraic Sarsfield. Pádraic was the Grade 1 league winner with 36-under par and the Grade 2 league prize was won by John Donnelly on -26.
Thank you to all the club members who supported the league over the past six weeks, and good luck to those taking part in the Club Doubles Matchplay which commences on Wednesday.
Our Club Captains Day took place on Saturday and more than 20 club members attended what was a great day out at Trim Pitch & Putt Course, and afterwards for the meal and presentations in The Castle Arch Hotel.
In wet weather the day kicked off with a slightly delayed start for our Three-Person Scramble and the winning team was Audrey Donnelly, Alan Cluskey and Greg Hoey with a score of 35 1/3. The winner of the Overall Captain’s Prize was Seamus Byrne with an 18 nett/18 gross combined score of 89. The Gents Senior grade was won by Peter Woods (100), the Inter grade went to Alan Cluskey (96 ob9s) and the Junior grade was won by Martin Kirwan (124). The Ladies winner was Anne Fagan (107).
The Best 36 nett prize was won by Ray McKenna (92) and Best 36 gross went to Pádraic Sarsfield (101). Other results from the day included Nearest the pin winners Seamus Byrne on hole 11 and John Donnelly on hole 18.
In his Captain’s presentation speech, the ever-popular clubman Ray McKenna thanked all those who attended the day and congratulated all the winners.

MANNAN CASTLE
LAST weekend’s competition was a 3 Person Waltz and it was won by Rory Lennon (18), Ciaran Marron (17) and Pauric Dowdall (15) with a score of 82 points, winners by one point.
In Week 11 of the Super Thursday Open competition, sponsored by GoGolfworldwide.com, Kevin Coleman (17) is coming into good form with the Club Captain Tommy Duffy Captain’s Prize less that two week away. Kevin qualified for the play-off last year and last Thursday he was the Open winner with 41 points. Shane McCaughey (24) finished second with 38 points and Padraig McEneaney (11), who has been in great form of late, also had 38 points for third. Donal McArdle aced the 17th for his second career hole-in-one.
In week five of the Junior competition first prize went to Sean O’Brien, with Darren Woods in second.

THERE will be a Juvenile competition in Seapoint today (Tuesday) at 11am. Also this Tuesday we will have a summer evening sweepstake singles competition. The draw will take place at 6.15 sharp for play at 6.30pm.

There will be no competition in Seapoint this weekend due to Collon hosting their Open Singles - a competition that will start on Friday and run through to Monday.

This year’s Annual Summer BBQ took place last Sunday week and it was a fantastic day for all members and their families. There was a scramble that took place on the day and the winners were as follows:
