BRICKX CLUB SUMMER CAMP

HERITAGE WEEK 2018

National Heritage Week 2018 takes place from Saturday 18th to Sunday 26th August inclusive. This years Heritage Week theme is ‘Share a Story, Make a Connection’. The Heritage Council says ‘Our cultural heritage belongs to everyone so we’re encouragin­g everyone to get involved in Heritage Week and learn more about heritage and make a new connection with it by visiting a museum, getting to know the history behind a local historic monument or exploring Ireland’s unique landscapes and wildlife habitats’. This year Heritage Week will be a highlight of Ireland’s celebratio­n of the European Year of Cultural Heritage. We are extremely privileged in Broomfield and District to have such a rich Cultural Heritage.

TUS VACANCY

A TUS vacancy exists with Broomfield and District Residents Associatio­n. The Work Programme involves Care-taking duties in and around Teach Raithneach, as well as the maintenanc­e and up-keep of a number of amenities throughout the District. If you think you are eligible to participat­e in this Scheme, then please contact t on 087 2729154 for more informatio­n. Self referral forms are available. These allow you to self-refer to Meath Partnershi­p, the body who have responsibi­lity for implementi­ng the TUS Scheme in this area.

Two local Ceili Bands will perform at the Fleadh in Drogheda. Triskell play for the Sets Ceili in Mc Hughs on Thursday 16th August, while The Tara play for the Fior Ceili in St Joseph’s School, Mell on Friday 17th August. The Tullyallen Carers headed off on one of their away days to The Botanic Gardens and then onto Áras an Uachtaráin where they got to meet with the President for what was a truly memorable day. There was plenty of photo opportunit­ies to with Mr. Higgins himself and I’m sure the chat was very interestin­g. The day was finished off with a lovely trip to the Thatch on the way home for a meal which went down a real treat for all.

CÚRSA SAMHRAIDH SA BHAILE/ IRISH SUMMER CAMP

The ‘Gaeltacht’ is coming to Tullyallen National School from August 7th to 10th from 10am to 2pm daily. From Irish lessons to Gaelic games to Set Dancing to Tin Whistle, they’ll have it all - and just before the Fleadh comes to Drogheda. TOWNLEY HALL GOLF CLUB

This year’s annual summer BBQ took place on Sunday 22nd of July. It was a fantastic day for all members and their families. There was a scramble that took place the winners are as follwed: 1st Barabra Molloy, Mick Cowley and Mick Foley, 2nd Roisin walsh, Teresa Leech and Paddy Bedford and 3rd Elaine Doorley, Bobby Rusk and Michael Reilly.

The World Meeting of Families diocesan opening will be on Tuesday 21st of August. Event will begin at 5pm in the Shambles Market, Armagh and followed by a procession at 7pm to the Cathedral with evening prayer from 7.30pm to 8.15pm. All are welcome

Do you want to learn more about your Faith? If you do, why not enrol in our Diocesan Theology Programme. There are no entrance qualificat­ions and no exams. THE VICTORIOUS U12 GLEN EMMETS

Congratula­tions and well done to the Under 12 Glen Emmets team who took on Naomh Martin in Division 1B final in Darver last week. With the final score Glen Emmets 4-8 Naomh Martin 3-4 there was fierce celebratio­ns all round for the players, coaches, mentors, parents and coaches. The future of the club is safe with this great bunch of young players coming along.

ROSSIN ROVERS NEWS

Rossin Rovers is a community based club based in Rossin on the Drogheda /Slane road. The club is going strong now for over 35 years in both senior and juvenile football. They are trying to take a pro - active approach to worrying decline in team sports and with that in mind they are trying to grow their underage structure from U8 on onwards, so if you’ve got kids, grandkids, niece, nephews from the Drogheda, Slane, Tullyallen areas not playing football and who would to take it up, feel to contact club to get them playing, or if you’re interested in taking up coaching the club woud love to get you involved. MEN’S SHED

The Tullyallen Men’s Shed meet on Tuesday & Friday mornings at 10am in the Glen Emmets Clubhouse. The Men’s Shed is a dedicated, friendly and welcoming meeting place where men come together and undertake a variety of mutually agreed activities. All new members are more than welcome to come along for a chat and cup of tea. So why not go along and see what it’s all about.

The annual Meath Diocesan pilgrimage to Knock takes place on Sunday 12th August. Bishop Michael Smith is the main celebrant and the Meath Diocesan Choir will also take part in the event.
