If you have any news relevant to Monasterboice, be it personal, such as weddings, birthdays etc, club or organisation related, please contact me at paddyholdcroft@gmail.com or on 0862039501 This will continue through August and Into September.

Monasterboice is one of Ireland’s oldest and best known monastic sites. The monastery existed from the 6th to the 12th century and of course is one of the most important centres for high crosses in Ireland along with Colnmacnoise and Kells. Indeed it is widely acknowledged that the wonderful Muiredach’s Cross is the most ornate and best preserved of all the Celtic Crosses.

There will be a special talk/ walkabout at the monastic site on Friday 3rd August at 6.30pm, hosted by The Monasterboice Tourism and Tidy Towns group. This will be a marvellous opportunity for local residents and visitors alike to learn about our fascinating history of which we are so proud.

And so say all of us

FIRST RESPONDER’S COLLECTION.

A public collection, located around Tenure Cross, will taken place from 8am til 8pm on Saturday and Sunday week, August 10th and 11th. What’s it in aid of, you say? Tenure’s Community’s First Responders is the answer, which is probably one of the most worthy causes in our midst. You hope to God you’ll never need to use, or, the use of a defibrillator, but if you do, it could be a literal lifesaver. However, these defibs don’t come cheap and hence this novel collection. Please prepare to dig deep.
