Poet Phil Lynch on the open mic in The Living Room

A rising voice on the spoken word circuit in Dublin and nationally is poet Phil Lynch.

After supporting Drogheda Creative Writers in one of its Garden of Remembranc­e sessions during the Fleadh Cheoil, Phil returns to Drogheda as Guest Poet at the Open Mic on Monday 24th September at 7.30pm in the Living Room at Sarsfields, Chord Road.

So look forward to an exciting sampling from his collection ‘In a Changing Light’ published by Salmon Poetry.

Phil’s poems have appeared in a range of literary journals and anthologie­s and featured on radio in the Arena Arts Show, the Poetry Programme. Sunday Miscellany and others.

He is a regular at poetry and spoken word events and festivals in Ireland and has also performed in Belgium, France, the UK and USA. First of a series of guest poets/readers planned for this year’s bi-monthly Open Mic evenings, Phil will be followed in November by the fascinatin­g words of Anne Tannam.

The rest of the evening will be open to local poets and story writers, so feel free to come along and take part or just listen. Regulars include Roger Hudson, Dawn Staudt, Dermot O’Neill and other long-standing members and Roger promises a Blast from the Past reading from a famous or forgotten poet or writer from earlier times. Drogheda Creative Writers meets regularly on the second and fourth Monday of each month at 7.30pm at Sarsfields - new members welcomed.

THE No Name Club open night takes place in the Boomerang Cafe on Friday September 21 from 6-7pm.
