All welcome to Book Club with a difference as The Mill launches ‘non-fiction for busy people’

STATISTICS show that the average person reads two or three books for the entire year, while the average CEO is reading four or five books per month!

If you are in business and feel you don’t have time to read, a new book club being launched this week could be just the thing.

Described as ‘Non-fiction for busy people’, The Mill Enterprise Hub is launching the Drogheda Business Book Club this Thursday at 5.30pm and the focus will be on reading and discussing a combinatio­n of the latest business books alongside acknowledg­ed classics on Strategy, Innovation, Business biographie­s, and a plethora of other relevant business headings.

Open to the public, The Business Book Club will follow the normal book club format but will also include an online forum. A monthly book will be chosen by members of the group and a discussion will then take place at the next meeting on the merits of the book and whether it is relevant to your business or workplace. The online forum will enable members to discuss the book between meetings and assist to keep readers motivated.

“We are confident that everyone can read more if they belong to a Business Book Club,” says Anna Kurtisa of The Mill Enterprise Hub.

“We are here to guide members through the world of business books and advise them on the most efficient reading practices, so that they can read at least one book a month even with a busy working schedule. It’s crucial that local entreprene­urs and startups stay informed of the latest ideas, and this will be a fun and relaxed way to do so. The club is open to anyone interested in business from students to startups and seasoned managers and owners”.

The one-hour introducto­ry session this Thursday will give the group a chance to discuss the format and time of future meetings and the process of monthly book-picking, as well as to learn more about effective reading practices. The Mill is home to dozens of local companies, and recently shared details of the future plans for this Drogheda Enterprise Centre.

The centre is approachin­g the third phase of its developmen­t with optimism, aiming to lead the region’s developmen­t to become the top regional entreprene­urial centre in Ireland.

“We aim to support entreprene­urial activity in the region, whilst continuing to have a strong emphasis on M1 Payments Corridor / Fintech companies in wider North East region, digital & High-Tech companies, Female and Youth Entreprene­urship, startups and growing businesses,” said Manager Alan Costello, “and also maintain our objective of embedding emergent FDI companies in the region by offering flexible high-end office solutions to IDA clients, and ensuring that they integrate well into local environmen­t.”
