-

THANKFULLY, people did go to Specsavers!

And helped raise more than €450 for Beaumont Hospital Cochlear Implant Department, Specsavers Audiologists’ new charity partner.

The store recently held in-store fundraising activity to coincide with World Deaf Day, which took place on Sunday September 30th, to raise awareness of the importance of taking a proactive approach to your hearing health. The store experienced enormous support and kindness from the local community, making this fundraiser a fantastic success.

The team at Specsavers Drogheda have once again put their wheels in motion in aid of Beaumont Hospital Cochlear Implant Department by holding an in-store fundraising static cycle. The store is very grateful to all customers and passers-by who dropped to show their support for the very worthy cause.

‘With Beaumont Hospital Cochlear Implant Department being Specsavers Audiologists’ new charity partner, we were delighted to hold an event to raise much needed funds for the charity,” said Director of Audiology at Specsavers Drogheda, Connie Scully.

“We saw all of the team here at Drogheda get involved and we would like to thank locals for their amazing generosity and for helping us raise money for such a worthy cause.’

The National Hearing Implant and Research Centre at Beaumont Hospital is the only centre in the Republic of Ireland that offers cochlear implantation to adults and children with profound hearing loss. Since it opened in 1995, over 1,350 people have received cochlear implants – 50% of them children. The clinical outcomes of the procedure are remarkable, giving children access to sound and enabling them to develop and understand speech.
