MACBRIDE P&P

WEEK two of MacBride’s Turkey League took place last week and it was an 18 gross competitio­n.

The Grade 1 winner was Barry Thornton with a score of 43 gross. Grade 2 was won by Darren Dooley with a score of 49 gross.

Week three will be an 18 nett competitio­n. Times of play are Wednesday and Saturday at 2pm and Sunday at 10am.

Congratula­tions to club member Pádraic Sarsfield who won the Final 18 prize at the Trim Scratch Cup on Sunday with a seven-under par score of 47.

There was no winner of the club lotto jackpot last week. The numbers drawn were 6, 18, 19 & 21 and the lucky dip winners were M Bedford, Rita Brady and John Bradley. The next draw will take place on Tuesday 23rd when the jackpot prize will be €3,700.

SUNDAY’S 18-hole stableford winner was Robert Lloyd with 42 points, while a tally of 22 points secured mid-week honours for Paddy Bedford.

Main hamper competitio­n held the weekend before last: 1st George Faulkner, 2nd John Coen. The mid-week winner for that week was Paddy Bedford with a score of 22 points.

The nine-hole winner was Nancy McGuinness ane the nine-hole re-entry winner was Mary Smith.

NAVAN COUGARS DROGHEDA SPARKS 22 57

DROGHEDA Sparks U-16s produced a strong all-round team performanc­e to emerge big winners from their trip to Cougars.

Gar Mac Criosta’s team were quick out of the blocks, with Ava Briscoe and Ome Esajobor prominent as they finished the first quarter 14-6 ahead. By half-time they were further ahead, with Kate Kelly and Ciara Ni Criosta finishing off numerous fast breaks, and Sparks continued to press home their advantage and pushed their lead out to 41-18 going into the final quarter.

Ellie Riggs, Nikola Busa kept the scoreboard ticking over in the latter stages.
