Safety measures at the Sacred Heart school are very welcome
Dear Sir,
I am delighted with the recent completed outstanding road safety measures at the Sacred Heart School and adjoining roads.
The works included a full set of Traffic Lights to assist the 600 students crossing to the sportsfield. The re-arrangement of traffic on the adjoining roads, leave right of way in favour of motorists coming from Calvary Bridge.
This is a huge improvement in Safety Measures. The New Ramp, Stop Sign and New Road Markings at the school side of the Poorhouse Lane Junction is crucial to compliment the other excellent Safety Measures. The lethal Poorhouse Lane Junction has witnessed a number of accidents and “near misses” over the years. The new road safety measures, I am confident, will see a huge improvement at this point.
The new road markings from Calvary Bridge, right up along Meadow View are excellent. In addition, the pedestrian safety measures earlier this year at the Meadow View/Bryanstown Junction, are the “icing on the cake” for the area.
I would like to thank the local residents for their forbearance and the tireless efforts by the Board of Management of Sacred Heart School. I also extend my thanks to Louth County Council for a job well done, after years of campaigning by me. Louth County Council will next year examine a pathway under Calvary Bridge and my ambition is to see it implemented.
Yours, Cllr. Tommy Byrne.
