Learn to play as well as enjoy trad music during weeekend fest

MUSIC Workshops for Immediate to Advanced Students will start Saturday’s programme, in Millmount at 11am to 1pm, priced €10. Learn to play the flute with Louise Mulcahy and fiddle with Michelle Mulcahy.

Local Historian Noel Bailey will give a free historical talk on the Tholsel and other historical buildings in the town on Saturday between 12.30pm – 2.30pm.

Gerry O’Connor will launch his album ‘Last Night’s Fun’ on Sunday 25th at 2pm in Droichead Arts Centre. Long known as Gerry ‘Fiddle’ O’Connor, this is one fiddler whose pulse is quickened by the sheer delight in the tunes. Gerry draws from a wide range of sources and the album features a veritable who’s who of traditiona­l music.

Finally the annual singing session for this year’s Drogheda Traditiona­l Music Festival takes place at 4.30pm in the Droichead cafe bar on Sunday. Singers and listeners are all welcome to this free event.
