Thomas Kelly went on hunger strike

Mr. Thomas Kelly (76), of Morganstow­n, Grangebell­ew, Co. Louth, who has died, was a member of a family with a long record of national service.

He took part in the 1918 Rising and later served with B Company, 2nd Batt, 4th Northern Division. Old I.R.A. During the Civil War. he was imprisoned in Dundalk and along with his brother. the late James Kelly, underwent a hunger strike for 30 days. Previously, he had been imprisoned in Brixton, Wakefield and Frongoch. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bridget Kelly, and a family of eleven.
