Tommy plans a very special night in the Dominican

- By HUBERT MURPHY

THE ACCLAIMED Tommy Fleming is promising a very special night of music in the Dominican Church on Thursday December 6th as part of his unique series of church-centred shows.

‘I see it as a setting, not a venue. I always think Christmas shows are special and I’m looking forward to performing in Drogheda,’ he stated.

Tommy has been in town on quite a few occasions and revealed his first show was in the former Europa Hotel on the Dublin Road.

He’s a familiar face in the TLT too and always looks foward to chatting with Tommy Leddy. ‘It’s great that Tommy dresses up in his dickie bow, it’s like the old show days.’

Having performed all over the world, in the company of such names as Elaine Paige, he admits he’d love to perform with Dolly Parton or Barbara Streisand and a Grammy would be nice, having been nominated for two in the past.

But for him, music is his passion, inspired by life and people and creating shows.

He got to perform with the late Christy Hennessy in the past, so it’s little surprise when he states that ‘Roll Back the Clouds’ is one of his favourite songs, with ‘ The Parting Glass’ also up there from his early years.

‘ The Drogheda show will be a mix of old and new. I act and sing and I love when both come together in a musical theatre show,’ he states.

He loves songs that bring him back to when he was 10 years old and in his local church in Sligo. He hopes the audience travel with him on that journey.

Tickets for the Tommy Fleming show in St Magdalene’s are available from Tommy via his website, www.tommyfleming.com and the Dominican church mass office.
