Arrow Tours on top of the world as they are named Travel Agent of the Year at awards
THE phrase ‘you could have knocked me down with a feather’ seems to sum up how Ben Greene of Abbey Tours felt when they were named Travel Agent of the Year at the recent World Choice Conference.
The annual industry event, which was held this year in the plush surroundings of Lyrath Estate and honours the best in the business.
“We are chuffed to pieces, as this is a really big deal,” says Ben with a grin. “It really hit us all out of left field, and we were all in complete shock at the table when our name was called out, as we didn’t even know we had been nominated.”
World Choice is a consortium of around 80 different suppliers, which counts Aer Lingus, Royal Caribbean Cruises and Sun Way amongst the group.
“So, we really are playing with the big boys and didn’t think we would stand a chance, so to be awarded this has left us gobsmacked, and because it comes from our peers, it has a much sweeter flavour than if we’d entered ourselves,” he adds.
“I was there with all the ladies dressed up, and to win really made our night, and I danced the night away with my bevy of beauties!”
Arrow Tours is over 60 years in business in Drogheda and although they have won numerous awards before, this will take pride of place on the shelf.
“I texted my dad Ted (who founded the company) and he was so delighted,” adds Ben.
“It’s a real vote of confidence, and I want to thank all the staff for their hard work.”
