Brexit breakfast forfirms

-

With the UK due to leave the European Union on March 29, Drogheda and District Chamber have organised a special Brexit breakfast briefing to be held on Thursday, January 31st for both member and non-member businesses in the Greater Drogheda area. The briefing is sponsored by AIB and is being hosted by Coca- Cola International Services at their South Gate, Drogheda offices, commencing with a light breakfast at 7.30am and will conclude at 9.00am.

The briefing will then be delivered by senior representatives of Grant Thornton and attendees will have the opportunity to raise their concerns and issues at a Q&A session afterwards. Thomas McEvoy, Head of Louth LEO will also be in attendance. While booking is brisk, there are still some places available for both members and non-members of the Chamber.

“While currently there is a lot of uncertainty and daily developments regarding Brexit, the one certainty is that the UK still plans to leave the European Union,” said Shona McManus, President of Drogheda and District Chamber, adding “so when the UK becomes a ‘ Third Country,” the relationship Irish businesses have with UK businesses will change. Whether local businesses are exporting; importing – or both – they need to be prepared for this seismic change, and they also need to ensure their UK business partners are also ready for this to avoid any disruption to trade. This becomes even more critical should a “no deal” Brexit emerges.”

The briefing will include where Brexit currently lies and likely changes in areas such as tax and customs and impacts on suppliers, supply chains and logistics.

Places for the briefing – which is free to Chamber members – are limited. A small €10 fee applies for non-members. Bookings and further information can be obtained from Brenda or Sandra at Drogheda Chamber on 041-9833544.
