St Brigid’s reunion night

-

St. Brigid’s Drama Group was first initiated on an autumnal night of the year 1948 when a prepaid advertisement placed in the Drogheda Independent led to a gathering, in what was then known as Clifford’s Café, now Mc Allister’s electrical shop in West St. The people attracted to attend this meeting were interested in being part of a new drama group in the town which would be a social outlet for the long winter nights that lay ahead. It is unlikely that anyone there had envisaged that what they were engaged in would still be a vibrant amateur drama group, enriching the cultural life of the town on an annual basis, seven decades later.

But so it is that this year, St. Brigid’s Drama Group is celebrating its 70th anniversary and its present committee is looking forward to doing so with a social get together of members past and present for an evening of re-acquaintance, reminiscence, refreshment, music and drama on Friday, February 1st, 2019 (St. Brigid’s Day!). The night of celebration is taking place in Richmond Fort, Milmount Square, commencing 8pm.

The committee are eager to contact and share this night with as many former members of the group who would like to be part of this occasion and are extending an open invitation to all such to contact Chairperson Martina (085 7279080 / stbrigidsdramagroup@gmail.com) on or before January 25th to have their name on the guest list. Further details are also available on the group’s Facebook page.
