As Paddy brings closure to his terrific year of Captaincy, 2019 Club Captain Shane Muckian will be hosting his Captains Drive-in on Sunday March 3 at 9pm with the Annual General Meeting to follow in the clubhouse following the golf and food.

Those new members who availed of the 2019 membership offers Contact Colin (07481044298) or the club for details, are making the most of the weather by getting familiar with the course and enjoying mixing with the members in the Eclectic League. The Annual free membership pick your number draw board is posted up in the clubhoust. A numbered square of your choice costs £/€20.

We may have experienced a good Winter chill over the weekend but it did little to halt the hot scoring as we reach the half way stage of the Eclectic League. The 14 hole repeater competition which is played off the Green markers over an altered course which has a par 55 with a handicap allowance of 7/9 of your official handicap is hugely popular and is divided into 4 different handicap Sections.

Section Four leader Graham Johnston (19) has completed the first three weeks in 56 shots for the best overall nett total of 37 which is one better than his nearest Sectional rival Noel Magill (17) with Section Two new leader Fintan McAlleenan (11) along with Section Three leader Seamus McCoy (15) level with Noel with the trio having a nett 38. Section The low men in Section One have yet to reach the thirties as Conor Walker (9) takes over the lead by a shot from Jamie Duffy (4) and Vice-Captain Justin Byrne (8) with a nett 41.

As already mentioned there are 3 more weeks of play left so a few dings eradicated here and there will no doubt see the leads in all four sections change hands on a few occasions as the pressure mounts - not alone to see who will claim the 1-2-3 prize-money on offer in each section but who will claim the bragging rights for lowest overall score in the competition. No pressure on Graham then.

THE winter handicap proved decisive in determining the result of Sunday’s 14 Hole Scotch Foursomes competition which saw a field of 54 pairings play in cold and windy but dry conditions.

Sean Quigley (18) and Noel McGuinness (20) took first prize with an excellent score of 49.2 but they benefited from the 0.5 deduction imposed on Brian Crombie (22) & John McGeady (24) for previous successes over the winter season.

Crombie & McGeady finished on 49.6 with the experienced Seamus Bailey (11) partnering juvenile Lee Egan (28) to third place on a score of 49.8.
