IrishCement andBusinessIn TheCommunity present St. Oliver’s studentswith Certificatesof Achievement
Helen Bennett and Kate Horton from the Irish Cement and Business in the Community partnership have awarded Leaving Certificate Applied Students from St. Oliver’s Community College with certificates of achievement for their hardwork and dedication throughout this initiative.
Platin Works joined with St. Oliver’s Community College as part of an ongoing Business in the Community partnership aimed at introducing 5th year students to the workplace. Through this excellent programme twenty students were given the opportunity to engage in training that will prove invaluable to them as they embark on their future careers.
Students undertake a number of modules including; goal setting, CV preparation, interview skills and public speaking skills. As part of the project students got the opportunity to visit the site in Drogheda to learn about the day-to-day work carried out by Irish Cement employees. Afterwards students travelled to the City North Hotel with their new CVs to partake in mock interviews where they all received valuable feedback on their performance.
Furthermore, students were invited to a fun-day at the Carlingford Adventure Centre which allowed them to develop team-bonding and communication skills.
Following the programme the class invited Helen Bennett and Kate Horton back to the school to make a presentation on all they had gained from this experience.
