Heavey edged out by Meade and Tolan in FG East Meath bid
A DRAMATIC Fine Gael East Meath selection convention saw sitting councillors Paddy Meade and Sharon Tolan given the green light to contest the forthcoming elections, edging out Duleek man Dylan Heavey, a 20 year old political student.
With a fourth contender, Damien O’Neill, not contesting, it was a three-way fight for the two slots with Meade topping the poll and Tolan coming in second.
However, there was support on the night for FG to adopt a three candidate policy and hopefully bring in a trio of councillors, like Ratoath and Trim.
It now remains to be seen if Heavey or another candidate will be added to the ticket.
