- BY ALISON COMYN

Termonfeckin woman Michelle Hall will bid for a council seat for the Labour Party in the Drogheda Rural electoral area in next May’s local election.

The four-seat electoral area includes Termonfeckin, Termon Abbey, Aston Village, Baltray, Clogherhead, Sandpit, the Monasterboice area and Tullyallen.

“I am delighted to have been appointed as a Local Area Representative and I look forward to contesting the elections to win a seat,” says Michelle, who works as a Special Needs Assistant (SNA) in Aston Village Educate Together school.

“I know that Cllr. Pio Smith, who will be running in the Drogheda Urban area, has done a lot of work in the area with individuals and local groups and I look forward to continuing to represent the people Pio has served.

Michelle has previously been involved with the parents’ council in Termonfeckin school and is well known for establishing the annual local ‘GOAL Mile’ event in the village.

“As a working mother of three children, quality of life, road safety, community facilities, public transport and sustainable planning issues are key areas of concern for me in the immediate Termonfeckin area.” she added.

“I am already working on several issues in the area in relation to road safety and on the urgent roll out of broadband in areas across the electoral area like Tullyallen, Townrath, Beaulieu to name just a few locations which are poorly served at present.”

Senator Ged Nash added his support, saying he was delighted that Michelle will be running, and running to win next May.

“She is a passionate advocate for fairness and for equality,” said the former TD for Louth.

“It is so important that we elect more women like Michelle Hall to public office and I look forward to campaigning with her between now and next May.”

Cllrs Paul Bell and Pio Smith were selected for the Drogheda Urban area last July.
