Rousing finish boosts Pats
A LATE scoring burst that yielded six unanswered points was enough to give St Patrick’s victory in Trim on Sunday morning.
The Stamullen men trailed by four points with less than 10 minutes remaining, but they finished in style to follow up on their draw in round one.
All of the winners’ second-half tally was shared by Niall Mooney and Donal Landy, with six and four points respectively.
Landy was on target with his side’s goal in the opening half, while Mooney and Padraig Nulty had points as St Patrick’s trailed 1-2 to 1-6 at half-time. Brian Dowling scored the Trim goal.
The Trim scoring dried up in the second half, with Conor Quigley getting their only point, while their goal came from James Cullen with nine minutes remaining.

New signing Eric Callaghan from Donaghmore/Ashbourne had an impressive outing, scoring three points and setting up a goal for Robbie Lynch.
The sides were level at the break at 1-4 each, with Patrick McGill notching the St Vincent’s goal and Nigel Hand, Leo Corry and Callaghan scoring points.
It didn’t take long for the Ardcath men to go in front in the second half when aided by the breeze and Lynch and Callaghan had points within a minute. Ballivor only managed two second-half points as the home side piled on the scores, with Leo Corry and Jack Byrne particularly impressive.
