TIDY TOWNS DRAW

INTERNET SAFETY TALK

St Patrick’s NS Slane, Parents Associatio­n host an Internet Safety Talk for parents this Thursday, February 7th, in the school hall at 7.30pm. Parents of children from all classes are encouraged to attend this invaluable session on how pupils can use the internet safely.

YOUNG GAA STARS

Well done to two local budding young GAA footballer­s who were showing off their skills in front of a big crowd in Pairc Tailteann recently. Ethan Harding from Slane NS and Sean Gillespie from Stackallen NS were members of the Cumann na mBunscol Go Games teams that played an exhibition match at half-time during the Meath versus Tipperary National Football League tie. Two young stars of the future no doubt.

TOP AWARD FOR STACEY

Congratula­tion to Stacey Grimes from Stackallen who was named Senior Player of the Year at the recent Meath Ladies GAA awards night. Stacey is one of the most prolific forwards in the country at present and plays her club football with Seneschals­town. A member of the county team, she was one of the stars throughout 2018 in Meath’s march to the All-Ireland intermedia­te final.

GAME NIGHT

Grange & District Game Club have a Game Night in the Sallygarde­ns this Saturday, February 9th, at 9pm. Everyone is invited to come and sample a wide range of game dishes.

COUCH DROP OFF

Do you want to get rid of an old couch for free. Well Meath County Council have a free drop off day at Navan Recycling Centre this Friday, February 8th, from 9am to 3pm.

AFTERNOON CONCERT

Tankardsto­wn House host an afternoon concert of Italian Opera in The Orangery at Tankardsto­wn House on Sunday, February 17th. It will feature soprano Evelyne Bourton and guests, tenor Andrew Gavin and pianist Donal McCrisken. NEWGRANGE ONLINE BOOKING SUSPENDED

Brú na Bóinne Visitor Centre will undergo major refurbishm­ent in the coming months and for the duration of the works the online pre-booking service will not be available. All tickets will be issued on a daily first come first served basis.

A Restorativ­e Yoga Evening with Brenda takes place on Friday, February 15th, at the Ananda Centre, Slane, from 7.30 to 9.30pm.

HOTHOUSE FLOWERS

The Conyngham Arms Hotel will host the brilliant Hothouse Flowers in concert on Easter Sunday night, April 21st. The world renowned rock group that combines traditiona­l Irish music with influences from soul, gospel and rock performed recently at the Temple Bar Tradfest and have a number of other concerts coming up shortly including the Dubai Opera House on St Patrick’s Day. SLANE SPINNERS

Slane Spinners have announced that their annual SOSAD sportive takes place on Saturday, May 11th, starting and finishing at Stackallen Tennis & Pitch & Putt Club where there is ample facilities for parking cars etc. Registrati­on details and routes informatio­n will be released shortly. Close to 300 cyclists took part in last years event over 50km and 105km.

The Confirmati­on this year in Slane will take place on Wednesday May 8th. First Communion is on Saturday, May 18th. Blessing of the graves in Monknewsto­wn, Dowth and Fennor is on Sunday, May 26th, and on Hill of Slane and St Erc’s Cemetery on Sunday, June 2nd.
