Assaulted shop worker

-

A 21-year-old man who admitted punching a shop worker from behind has been given time to come up with compensation for his victim.

David Starrs, Tredagh View, also pleaded guilty to being intoxicated in a public place on the same occasion.

Evidence was given that on 10 September last outside Lidl, Donore Road, the defendant, who was drunk at the time, delivered one punch to the side of the face from behind.

A description was given to gardaí and Starrs was arrested a short time later.

Solicitor Dermot Monahan said there was no intent by his client, who is unemployed and has just finished a six-month back-to-work scheme.

Judge Coughlan adjourned the case to 5 April for Starrs to have €200 compensation for his victim.
