FF hopeful praises new bus services

-

JAMES Byrne, the FF urban candidate is delighted with a query he placed with the NTA in relation to the town bus service network in Drogheda, including the following:

* An increase in the number of services between Laytown and Drogheda, including D1 and a new D2 service which will see the doubling of the combined frequency. These services are expected to be implemented shortly.

* The introduction of Route D4 from Southgate Shopping Centre via Dublin Road into Drogheda town centre and on to Ballymakenny College;

* The introduction of Route D5 from Southgate Shopping Centre via Dublin Road into Drogheda town centre and on to Aston Village;

* The co-ordination of timetables on the trunk section of Routes D4 and D5 i.e. Southgate Shopping Centre to Boyle O’Reilly Terrace / Shamrock Villas to provide a strong level of service on the core cross-town corridor between these two locations;

* minor changes to Route 173 (south and north) to reflect the impact of new service introductions to the town.

The NTA has also approved changes to Route 101 which include services both earlier in the morning and later in the evening, in line with changing employment patterns.
