Green light for Aldi Laytown

-

THE proposed Aldi supermarket has been granted planning permission for the Strand Road, Laytown, and is expected to be open by July of this year.

Despite many years of legal wrangling, following objections by local residents, An Bord Pleanála decided to grant permission stating the proposed development would be “an appropriate form of development at this location, would comply with the scale and type of retailing identified for these lands in the applicable planning policy for the area, would not seriously injure the amenities of the area or of property in the vicinity and would be acceptable in terms of traffic safety and convenience”.

The report also said the discount store shall not operate outside the hours of 8am to 9pm Monday to Saturday inclusive, nor 10.30am to 7pm on Sundays or public holidays.
