Anglo Printers get behind Mary A Kelly’s solo exhibition as it goes on a nationwide tour after local Highlanes show
HOW exciting It is to hear how engaged and interested our business folk are in promoting art and culture.
Mary A Kelly’s solo exhibition titled Chair, initiated and curated by Aoife Ruane at Highlanes Gallery has so inspired Padraic Kierans, MD, Anglo Printers, one of Ireland’s leading and most innovative print solutions providers, that Anglo is to sponsor the exhibition and its national tour, which it is also anticipated will travel to Germany in 2020.
Kelly, a mid-career artist has a reputation both in Ireland and internationally, and has exhibited photographs, video and installation primarily; this new body of work, all oil paint, and bitumen on canvas, a new departure for the artist. The focus of investigation of the exhibition is the chair; armchair, couch, as a physical object in space. It is a resting place, container, location and position. It’s position on its own or with another or other chairs is a conversation about relationships with people, objects and self.
At the unveiling of the work for installation at the gallery recently, Padraic Kierans commented “In our work at Anglo we are always inspired by imagination, creativity and ambition and we believe in the importance of art and the arts on our lives and the lives of others, and are delighted to support Mary A Kelly’s exhibition and tour, and we encourage our clients and the citizens of the North East to wear a path to our exciting and dynamic Municipal Art Gallery to see this amazing new exhibition of work.” The exhibition opened on Saturday 9th February with an in conversation with Mary A. Kelly.
