Sheila helped to run the farm while raising family

MUCH sadness has been occasioned by the passing of Sheila Kelly nee Devine of Tullydonne­ll, Togher who died peacefully at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda on April 3rd 2019.

Sheila was born on 27th of February 1926 and lived at Shamrock Hill Dunleer.

She was one of five children and attended the local Dunleer primary school.

Sheila went to work at Ginnitys Pub/shop in Dromiskin where she met her future husband Peter Kelly from Dromiskin.

The couple settled in Tullydonne­ll, Togher and Sheila helped her husband in the running of the farm and raised seven children. Sheila liked to bake especially brown bread and her love of knitting kept them supplied in Jumpers and cardigans.

When the children were older Sheila took up employment in St Marys Drumcar where she worked until her retirement.

She kept in touch with the many friends she made there.

In her retirement Sheila liked to travel a lot and increased her passion for Bingo.

She had great faith and attended her local church Dysart regularly until a few years ago. She always looked forward to St Gerard’s novena and lately when her movement was restricted and she was unable to be out and about, the local curate Fr Quinn kindly called weekly for the blessing of the sick.

Sheila was proud of her twenty grandchild­ren and loved their company as well as that of her twenty nine great grandchild­ren.

Sheila is predecease­d by her husband Peter and daughter Meave Reilly and her great granddaugh­ter Chloe, her sisters Kathleen Devine, Maggie Bowhan, and Nora Kennelly, sisters-inlaw, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Sheila is survived by her sister Maura Dorian and her six children Eugene, Kathleen, Liam, Peter, Laurence and Brendan, daughters-in-law and sons-in-law. Grandchild­ren, great grandchild­ren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Having reposed at her home in Tullydonne­ll Sheila’s remains were brought to St Borchills church Dysart for requiem mass which was celebrated by Fr Tom Daly PP.

She was interred afterwards in Drumcar graveyard.

Months mind mass will take place in St Borchills church, Dysart on Saturday the 27th of April at 7pm.
