LAYTOWN TIDY TOWNS

Laytown Tidy Towns have been out in force and are doing tremendous work on the bed beside the railway bridge. You may have noticed that the ground has been levelled on the approach road to Laytown and work will shortly begin on creating a raised bed, pathway and wildflower meadow. Many of our villages, towns and housing estates in East Meath have entered Meath County Councils Anti-Litter Initiative and we hope that all the residents of East Meath will make every effort to ensure there is no litter on the ground. Pick it up and bin it or bring your rubbish home with you.

JULIANSTOWN & DISTRICT COMMUNITY AGM

The Annual General Meeting of the Julianstown & District Community Association will be held in the Church of Ireland Parish Rooms, Laytown Road, Julianstown Date: 16th May, 2019 Time: 8.00 pm. All members and interested individuals are welcome to attend.

Julianstown & District Community Association is run by a group of volunteers who give up their time and effort to develop and regenerate the village on your behalf. If you recall the whole centre of Julianstown was derelict; the Old Mill Hotel burned to the ground and the Pub closed! John Macken & Tom Carson have given a heart back to our village when they totally refurbished ‘The Lime Kiln’ and opened the Gastro Pub and Shop.

Meanwhile, we hope you are delighted with the new lights on the bridge for which we received a grant under the Town and Urban Renewal Scheme, and this will also include a Clock Tower.

We will shortly be starting a complete revamp of the beds going up the hill in Julianstown and are in the process of drawing up a design. This will create a focal point going up through the village and also include additional seating. We hope that you will support us by either giving a helping hand or making a donation towards the project. We want Julianstown to grow into an attractive, safe and sustainable village which will be home to a vibrant, creative and enterprising community, welcoming to all.
