Host of fun events for Leanbh festival

A host of fantastic shows with take place in the Droichead Arts Centre this Autumn as part of the children’s festival Leanbh this October.

The Dig by Paul Curley tells the story of Mac who has always wanted to be an archaeolog­ist, showing his expertise at finding things and working out what they mean.

But in a world where facts and figures mean so much more than fairy tale and fantasy, Mac has to dig deeper to prove what he finds is what he thinks it is.

The Dig takes place on October 2nd, 10am and 12pm for ages 6+ (teachers go free).

There’s a real treat in store on Saturday, October 5th as Lyngo’s fantastica­l performanc­e of the classic fairytale Jack and the Beanstalk takes to the stage.

Expect lots of surprises and beautiful images as Patrick Lynch tells the gripping story of Jack who sells his cow for 5 magic beans and finds himself in the land above the clouds.

The show is aimed at those aged three and over, tickets cost €7/€6.

Stick by Me (Thursday, October 10th, 10am and 12pm, age 3-6, teachers go free) is ‘a joyful and funny show’ about friendship and play, and the importance of treasuring the little things.

Created by Andy Manley and Ian Cameron, co-creators of internatio­nal hit show White. Embark on an adventure through the forest where children can explore musical soundscape­s, sing, dance, and help Oran the owl, Sorley the snail, and Faolán the frog bring the little oak tree to life through music.

Under D’Bed featuring Tailtu Theatre Company is a choose-your-own-adventure play. The show takes place on Wednesday, October 16th and Thursday, October 17th, 10am and 12pm.

The cost is €6 (teachers go free) and the show is suitable for children aged between 8 and 12.

The Quiet Tree with Ceol Connected takes place on Wednesday, October 23rd at 10am and 12pm. go free).
