WALSHESTOWN U-16s made in two wins from two in the NDSL Premier Division with a comprehensive victory at home to Bohemians on Sunday.
The home team started on the front foot and were unlucky not to take the lead on four minutes when Sean Boyle volleyed wide from a well-delivered Adam McDonagh free kick.
The opener came soon after on eight minutes when McDonagh’s header at the back post from a Jamie Donagh corner found his centre-half partner Tadhg O’Brien who nodded into the roof of the net.
That brought Bohs to life and they attacked well down the left and centre but were thwarted by Ciaran Brannigan and Craig Callanan.
Walshestown could have then increased their lead when Oisin Gray tested the Bohs keeper with three long drives in quick succession, with the keeper pulling off some excellent saves to deny the Walshestown number 9.
Five minutes before half-time, though, Sam Murtagh chased down what seemed to be a lost cause, secured turnover possession Under-8A

Bohs started the second half well and could have narrowed the deficit were it not for some smart saves from Kyle Meegan and two well-timed interceptions by Aaron McGlew.
With 30 minutes to go Matthew Lynch and Lennon McCormack came off the bench for the home side and it wasn’t long before they made an impact. McCormack found Lynch who controlled excellently and finished delicately over the out-rushing keeper to make it 3-0.
Lynch made absolutely sure of the win and three points with 10 minutes to go when he received an inch-perfect ball from man of the match Conor McGuirk before sending an unstoppage 25-yard shot to the top right-hand corner.
On the stroke of full-time Gray put the icing on the cake when he got his goal his hard work deserved, rounding off a great team performance for the Rinkinstown team.
