Adeyemo to the ‘four’

-

DROGHEDA UNITED CAVAN/MONAGHAN 6 0

JORDAN Adeyemo was the star of the show with four goals as Drogheda United Under-19s scored a facile win over Cavan/ Monaghan at United Park on Saturday last.

Adeyemo, who had netted a hat-trick for the first team in a friendly match the week before, proved a big handful for the Cavan/Monaghan defence from the kick-off.

Dominating early possession, the Drogs took control in the middle, with Kevin Mohammed and captain John Barry strong in defence.

As a result the Boynesiders forced a number of corner kicks and on 25 minutes Adeyemo opened the scoring when he tapped in from close range. Ten minutes later he made it 2-0 when he expertly tucked away a penalty after being fouled in the box.

Adeyemo completed his hattrick before half-time with the best score of the game, pouncing on a loose ball outside the box and expertly lobbing over the visiting keeper into the empty net.

The Drogs added further goals through Reuben Marques and another penalty from Adeyemo before Ryan O’Shea finished the scoring with a tapin from close range with 10 minutes to go.

This was another good performance by the Boynesiders which leaves them in third place in the SSE Airtricity Under-19 League Northern Division table, two points behind Finn Harps with two league games still to play.
