A night of music and fun to remember Brian and help support his family through a very difficult time takes place this Friday September 20th in Shearman’s Dunleer from 8pm.

Brian, a much loved member of the Dunleer Community, died suddenly on the 17th of June 2019 leaving behind his heartbroke­n family. Tickets are €10. You can buy direct from Berni Thornton, Declan Dunne or in store in Wogan’s, Drogheda, where Brian worked, and tickets also on sale in Shearman’s.

Music on the night by Cryin’ Shame, Gran Torino, Alisha Thornton and Special Guest Ray Dolan, a night not to be missed.

CHILDRENS SCHOOL BLITZ

DUNLEER GOLF SOCIETY

The Dunleer Golf Society Away Outing was held at the fabulous Macreddin Golf Course on the 6th/7th September 2019.

The Co. Wicklow course was designed by Paul McGinley, a former Irish Ryder Cup Captain. The Overall Winner was Ken Brady with 68 points amassed over the two days and the Prize was donated by the Dunleer Credit Union.

The other results were as follows: 1st Paul Flanagan 63pts, 2nd Gary Broughton 61pts, 3rd Peter Grogan 60pts, Longest Drive Paddy Brady & Ken Brady, Nearest the Pin James Nulty & P Naheem, 2’s Paul Flanagan (2), Ken Brady, P. Naheem(2) & Peter Grogan, all based over the two days.

The next event is Wayne Brady’s Captains Prize at Ardee on Saturday 28th September 2019, Sponsored by Malone Windows.

GLEN EMMETS OSKAR’S

It’s all go now with the roles for the Glen Emmets “A Night at the OsKaR’s” decided. The big night is set for 2nd November 2019 in City North Hotel.

The Glen Emmets members and parishione­rs will re-create and film in the local area key movie pieces from great movies including The Field, The Full Monty, Sister Act, Walk the Line, Saving Private Ryan, Michael Collins & the Snapper. This is going to be EPIC.

There are some sponsorshi­p packages still left with lots of different budgets catered for along with sponsors for commemorat­ive brochure that will be produced for the night. BLOOD DONOR CLINIC THANKS

The Irish Blood Transfusio­n Service (IBTS) would like to thank all 73 Donors who attended the recently held clinic in Teach Raitneach, Starinagh, Collon. A special thank you to our Local Voluntary Organiser, Jim Mooney, Slane Red Cross and to Linda Dillon for their help and support prior to and during the holding of the clinic.

A breakdown of the total figures shows that 4 former donor and 6 new donors attended the clinic.

It is our wish to continue to service the Slane/ Collon community, and we would urge the people of the district to continue to support this essential service by maintainin­g and increasing the level of support on our next visit.

Finally, on behalf of all the patients in hospital who benefit from your generosity, a heartfelt thank you to all who attended or helped our Slane/ Collon clinic in any way.

PARISH NEWS

Sacramenta­l meeting for parents/guardians of children in 6th class on Thursday 19th of September at 7.30p.m.

Our annual Mass of thanksgivi­ng for those in prayer ministry, ministers of Holy Communion, the Word, music and song, caring for the sanctuary, distributi­on of envelopes or collection of finances, running bingo, sacristan, altar serving, tending the cemetery, managing rotas, bulletin; grass cutting, bereavemen­t. Mass will be celebrated on Friday 27th of September at 7.30p.m. This will be followed by refreshmen­ts the Parish Hall.

Our parish choir is currently seeking new members to continue its ministry in assisting with our Sunday Eucharist, solemn celebratio­ns and other liturgical celebratio­ns in our church throughout the year. If you feel that you could contribute your gift of singing and your time to the choir then you are most welcome. If you are interested contact Maura Callan our Parish Music/Choir director on (041) 9826807 or feel free to speak to Maura after Mass on Sundays when the choir is singing.

Archbishop Eamon will join in the annual celebratio­n at the Papal Cross at Killineer on Sunday September 29th next at 5pm to celebrate the 40th Anniversar­y since St John Paul II’s Visit. All are invited as we pray for Ireland and for humanity.

SLIMMING WORLD TIMES

Tullyallen Slimming World classes are on every Thursday. The first class is 5pm and the second is 7pm. Amanda will be there giving plenty of inspiratio­n, motivation and encouragem­ent to everyone who comes along.

The Tullyallen Men’s Shed have announced a fundraiser for Saturday, 5th October in the Morning Star with Two’s company providing the entertainm­ent. Tickets are €5 and are available from any Men’s shed member or in Lambe’s Butchers in Tullyallen. There will be a raffle on the night and this promises to be a great night for everyone who goes along.

Tullyallen Men’s Shed meet up every Tuesday and Friday mornings 10 am till 1 pm why not call into them. They are beside the Glen Emmets GFC Clubhouse. They have Bowls, Pool, Darts, Rings, Cards so why not call in for a chat and a cuppa. Everyone has something to offer in the Shed. All new members will be most welcome.

SWIMMING LESSONS

The new term sees lots of classes starting or resuming and Drumcar Swimming Pool is no different. This pool is very close to us here in Tullyallen, it is not too big and if memory serves me right, a lovely temperatur­e.

The Parent and Baby classes are Sunday Mornings, the Adult Classes are Wednesday evenings and the Children’s lessons are Sunday Mornings and Wednesday evenings. So there is a class in there to suit everyone. Contact Martina on 086 0793277 if you would like to sign up.

JUNIOR & SENIOR INFANTS PARENTS EVENING

There will be a wine and cheese evening on Tuesday, September 24th in Tullyallen National School. This is an open invite to all Junior & Senior Infant parents to come along for a wine & cheese mixer to meet other new parents and the members of the Parents Associatio­n. Marianne from the National Parents Council will be there to talk on the importance of the parents roll in their children’s education.

WEDDING & BIRTHDAY

Love was in the air on Friday Sept 6th as the beautiful Tracey Grimes and the handsome Mitchell Bradley exchanged wedding vows.

The ceremony took place in the Monasterbo­ice Inn where family and friends turned up in great style to be with the happy couple on their beautiful day.

We wish them life-long health happiness and good fortune in their life together. To continue on the celebratio­ns a surprise party was held for Mitchell on the following day in Ardee Golf Club as he was celebratin­g his 40th birthday. So many congrats on your 40th.

It was certainly a weekend of celebratio­ns.
