ARDCATH ICA

It was back to business for the Ardcath Guild last week when they convened for the new season.

It has been a busy summer for the members and special mention was made to Mary Walsh on becoming a great-great grandmother and Brigid Whyte on becoming a granny. Members had done a walk for Brest Cancer and raised much needed funds. They also received a thank you letter from the Alzheimers Society for the money they had raised for them. The competition winners were Ann Whyte; Brigid Whyte and Ann Sheridan.

The guest speaker was Anna Whyte, a domestic science teacher who regaled the members with the story of her three-week trip to Uganda where she worked as a volunteer teaching the children how to cook and read. It was an uplifting experience that was happy and sad in equal measure.

She had raised the funds to go there herself and the amount she had left over she donated to the school she was attached to while she was there. She enthralled the members with her talk and the video that she showed on the night.

There are two upcoming events for the members, the first to the Meath Federation meeting at Dun Deálgan pm 23rd September for an Irish Cultural night. Several members of the Ardcath Guild will be doing their award winning their set dancing
