MARTIN BOWLS TO VICTORY.

The previous weekend will always be a special one for local man Martin Briscoe. It was a case of 3rd time lucky for Martin as he claimed the title of Novice Irish Road Bowls Champion in what was described as a thrilling event held along the Baltray road.

Martin has being playing Road Bowls for 30 years and this was his third time to contest the final and eventually the All Ireland title came his way. Congratulations Martin.

EILEEN TAKES COUNCIL SEAT.

The recent sudden death of Cllr Oliver Tully caused deep shock and sadness in the Community. Having contested the recent local elections and topping the Drogheda Rural Constituency, his passing left a vacant seat on Louth Co. Council. However, his wife, Eileen, was selected unopposed at a recent Fine Gael Convention to take his seat and she was formally co-opted onto Louth Co. Council at its meeting yesterday.

May we wish you the very best of luck, Eileen, in continuing on Oliver’s great work and no doubt you will be an excellent local representative.

HURLING FINALS.

Meanwhile, Sunday September 22nd will see a double header of St. Fechin’s v Naomh Moninne as the Senior County Hurling Final will be preceeded by the U16 County Final. As of last Thursday evening, the venue for the County finals had not yet been decided upon. Wherever it is, c,mon the Fechin’s. The very best of luck to both teams.

TIDY TOWNS.

The judging of the Tidy Towns competition must be drawing nearer as there is plenty of work going on to maintain the beauty and cleanliness of our village. Certainly it looks very well and those working voluntarily to keep it clean must be commended for their efforts.

However, there is still the scourge of dumping on some of the local roads with mindless hooligans not at all concerned about where they discard their rubbish. This is not acceptable and if anyone comes across incidents of dumping, please report it and efforts will be made to trace the culprits.
